Letters / Outside his world
I heartily thank SNP election agent John Mowat for his comment about not being sure which planet I live on (SNP election thanks; SN, 14/05/15).
I just hope my planet, has an entirely different philosophy and outlook to his.
I am honoured that he specifically mentions me in his letter. That would suggest my observations about the SNP and their choice of candidate have struck home.
As an Old Etonian Danus Skene should have been proud of his background and upbringing. It is indeed rather sad he chose to not reveal it and so, by his silence, he opened himself up to ridicule.
The tactics of the SNP and supporters has been to use Cameron and Osborne’s Eton education as a reason to pour scorn and insult with extreme obscenity and foul comment on anyone educated thus.
The least offensive being ‘Toffs’, the worst are unprintable obscenities.
These often are openly banded around on the Internet, the Facebook Yes Shetland page being a good place to look.
It is sad Danus had to lose, he only has to thank his more verbose, obscene and vocal supporters to see why.
Even his own SNP election agent, in his letter of thanks in defeat, cannot resist the cheap insult.
I am so proud to be outside his world and planet; as far away a possible from his planet would be much too close for me.
