News / Car crime charges
The case against a young Shetland man accused of taking a car from a commercial garage in Ollaberry without the owner’s consent has been continued without plea until Wednesday.
Ross Sutherland, of Room 8, Solheim Guesthouse, Lerwick, is also accused of driving the vehicle without a full driving licence, test certificate and insurance between Ollaberry and near Brae on 25 April.
The 26 year old was released on bail after appearing from custody before Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday, as was his co-accused Liam Cripps.
Cripps, of 4 Runnadale, Ollaberry, whose case was also continued without plea until Wednesday, is charged with allowing himself to be carried in the vehicle allegedly taken by Sutherland.
In a separate case against Cripps, the 25 year old pled not guilty to a charge of assault, which is alleged to have taken place on the Sullom Road near the Clothister junction on 12 April.
Cripps also denied driving a vehicle with neither driving licence nor test certificate nor insurance on the Sullom Road on the same day.
A trial date was set for 6 August.
