News / Ferries delayed
WITH another spell of severe weather forecast overnight from Monday to Tuesday, ferry operator Serco NorthLink is making some drastic changes to its timetable.
The northbound sailing of the Hjaltland will not depart Aberdeen before 3am on Tuesday morning, eight hours behind schedule, to avoid the worst of the storm.
Check-in will remain between 5pm and 6.30pm though.
Meanwhile, the Hrossey, scheduled to leave Lerwick for Aberdeen at 7pm, is unlikely to depart before 10am on Tuesday, although the sailing remains under review.
NorthLink said a final decision would be made at 3pm on Monday.
Should the sailing go ahead the Hrossey is expected to arrive in Aberdeen at around 9pm on Tuesday.
Monday night’s sailing of the cargo vessel Hellier has been cancelled, while the Hildasay’s journey north is likely to be delayed.
The Met Office said that gusts of up to 80 miles per hours were likely over exposed parts of northern Scotland.
