News / Jail warning for Keith
A SCALLOWAY man is likely to be sent to jail next month after he admitted viciously assaulting a defenseless man at an address in the village on 16 September last year.
Sentence on 45 year old Gordon Keith, of 12A Meadowfield Crescent, has been deferred for social justice reports until 18 March.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie told Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday that it was only thanks to a passer-by that the emergency services were called after the 59 year old victim was found lying on his sofa.
The man had to be kept in hospital overnight.
Sheriff Philip Mann told Keith that it had been a “very vicious assault” on a defenseless man, and that he should prepare himself to be sent to jail when appearing next before the court.
