THE ORGANISERS of the Dunecht 4×4 Shetland Darts Masters 2015 have secured five times world champion Raymond Van Barneveld as the eighth player to compete in the event to be held at the Clickimin Leisure Complex on Saturday 18 April.
This will be Van Barneveld’s third visit to the tournament and he will be looking to reclaim the trophy he won on his first visit in 2012.
Just last week ‘Barney’ reached the final of the Players Championship where he lost to fellow Dutchman and Shetland Masters player Michael Van Gerwen.
On route to the final he saw off the newly crowned Scottish World Champion Gary Anderson at the semi-final stage.
The other competitors are: James Wade, Peter Wright, John Henderson, Simon Whitlock, Robert Thornton and Tony O’Shea.
Gideon Ward of SDM promotions said “We’re delighted to have secured another high profile name for the tournament in April. With all the players’ schedules so busy it becomes more difficult to attract all the top players for one event.
“What we have on show here will be one of the best exhibition tournament’s to be held anywhere in the UK or even further afield.”
- Tickets for this year’s event go on sale on Saturday (7 February) from the Shetland Box Office at Islesburgh or online at www.shetlandboxoffice.org
