Letters / Scatness map
I am writing an article just now about the history of the township of Scatness in Dunrossness from 1500-1900.
In 1872 there was a major division of the place, and Sheriff Mure produced a lengthy report on the subject.
Throughout he refers to a manuscript map, drawn by the surveyor Thomas Irvine of Midbrake.
I would very much like to see it, because Mure’s report is very difficult to understand without it.
Has anyone seen a copy? If so, I would be very grateful indeed for a sight of it!
