Couldn’t resist a smile

I could not resist a smile when I read Mr Mackay’s letter (The next best thing; SN, 21/02/14).

In it he berates Mr Hill for his misfortune in being washed up on Shetland’s shores and also the evil Scots for refusing to hand Shetland back to Norway.

Did it not occur to him that, as his surname confirms, his own forefathers “cam in da sooth mooth”?
