Space2face charity invites community to join them for anniversary dinner
A CHARITY supporting people affected by conflict, crime and harm is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a fundraising dinner later this month.
Space2face is an independent restoratives practices and arts charity that gives people affected by crime and other conflict the opportunity to help restore the harm caused.
It started working as a pilot project in Shetland 18 years ago and became a registered charity in 2016.
The organisation now offers its services in Shetland, Orkney and in Edinburgh.
At the heart of its work lies the belief that everyone affected by harm matters and everyone deserves the opportunity to be heard.
The charity creates safe supported spaces where people can explore what happened, the impact it had had on them, and agree ways to move forward.
Space2face uses creative activities as a way “to sit across a table and talk about painful or traumatic experiences”.
Co-founder and Director-Practitioner Clair Aldington said reaching Space2face’s 10th anniversary as a charity feels incredibly significant.
“Our creative approach gives people different ways to express themselves and ensures that those affected by harm have a voice,” she said.
“Sometimes that means bringing people together; sometimes it means working with them separately. The process will look different for every person, but it always begins with listening.
“This anniversary belongs to everyone who has helped Space2face grow: from the people who have taken part in our work, to our staff, to our trustees, to our volunteers, to our funders, our partners and supporters.”
The charity’s chair Donald Anderson added: “By coming around the table with us, you will also be helping Space2face continue its important work: ensuring that people affected by conflict, crime and harm have the opportunity to be heard, supported and empowered to move forward.”

The anniversary supper will take place at the Himalayan Lounge on Tuesday 29 September from 6.30pm, with dinner served from 7pm.
Tickets cost £30 and include poppadoms and chutneys on arrival, a choice of starter and main course from the Himalayan Lounge menu, and rice and naan for the table. Desserts and drinks can be purchased separately on the evening.
Half of every ticket sold, £15, will be donated directly to Space2face. Tickets can be booked online here.
