Letters / Green policies wipe out economies

Sn letters - letter at Shetlandnews.

Interesting idea from Zara Pennington that ‘Embracing Green policies pushes politics forward’, (Shetland News, 26 January 2026).

Tell that to the fishermen who had to fight off the Green HPMA scheme, that would have led to more seabed closure, having already lost seabed to oil rigs, and wind farms.

Tell that to everyone who pays ever increasing electricity bills, thanks to Green policies.

Wind farms are green energy; not only do we pay for the energy they produce, we also get to pay for when they are asked not to produce energy. Companies get to subsidise the wind farms too, so their prices to customers go up, there is the Cost-of-Living Crisis right there.

Tell that to the oil workers.  Where is the just transition as the North Sea is mothballed?

And now we have to import oil for our own use.  Logic?

Green policies wipe out economies, and jobs.
