News / Power back on after hundreds of homes left in the dark
POWER has been restored to over 550 homes across the Central and North Mainland which were left in the dark this morning (Tuesday).
SSEN said that power was lost to homes around the Nesting and Vidlin areas at around 8.25am this morning, with large parts of Whalsay, Burra and Whiteness also affected.
The energy company said as many as 579 homes were left without power this morning.
SSEN said the cause of the outage was a fault in its overhead network.
Power was restored gradually, with all areas said to be back online as of 12.30pm.
