Marine / Henderson takes on top role at national cruise body
MELANIE Henderson has been appointed as the chairwoman of Cruise Scotland as it refreshes its senior management team.
Henderson, who is cruise and marketing manager at Lerwick Port Authority, will lead Cruise Scotland as it looks to build on record growth and strengthen Scotland’s position as one of Europe’s leading cruise destinations.
She had previously served as secretary on the board, before taking up the top role.
Henderson said Cruise Scotland had a “track record” of ensuring Scotland was promoted to the world as a world-class destination.
“As we look ahead, our focus is on ensuring sustainable growth, enhancing the visitor experience, and continuing to strengthen the partnerships that have made Scotland such an attractive stop for global cruise lines.
“I’m looking forward to working alongside colleagues from across the network to build on the strong foundations already in place,” she said.
Cruise Scotland said the changes to its management positions “bring together extensive port and destination experience from across Scotland’s cruise network, underlining the organisation’s collaborative strength and regional breadth.”
