Emergency services / Fire service helps woman cut off by incoming tide
FIRE crews from Walls were first on the scene near Melby Pier, in Sandness, this afternoon (Sunday) to assist a woman who had become stranded due to the incoming tide.
Coastguard teams from Hillswick, Walls and Lerwick, as well as the Aith lifeboat, were all tasked after the call for help came in at just after half past one.
One fire appliance from Lerwick was also sent out.
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue said crews assisted one person off the beach and onto “some hard standing”.
The emergency was over half an hour after the call had come in, with all services stood down.
