Emergency services / Coastguard responds to reports of person in the water

THE SUMBURGH based search and rescue helicopter was called out on Sunday evening following reports of a person in the water of Weisdale Voe.

A spokesperson for the coastguard in Shetland said members of the public had helped the person out of the water.

The person was then airlifted to the Clickimin landing site and taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital for checks.

The helicopter was called out at 8.45pm and arrived at the landing site about an hour later.
