Sport / Shetland behind after first day of junior intercounty

The Shetland athletics cup winning the Ian Williamson cup.

THERE is still all to play for on the second day of the junior intercounty on Sunday after the Blues were defeated by their rivals from Orkney in both the hockey and the football.

Shetland was narrowly ahead 48.5 to 47 after the morning athletics but was unable to add any more points to the tally during the day.

A narrow 1-0 defeat in the hockey and an emphatic 4-0 win by the Orcadians in the football resulted in the Blues being behind by 23.5 points (72 – 48.5) after the first day.

The junior intercounty continues on Sunday with the netball and swimming. Both events are being held at the Clickimin in Lerwick.
