News / Crews extinguish house fire in Cheyne Crescent

FIRE crews attended the scene of a house fire in Lerwick’s Cheyne Crescent on Tuesday afternoon.

Eight fire engines were called to the scene – including crews from Lerwick, Scalloway and Brae – with the call coming in at 1.42pm.

Crews from Bixter, Sumburgh and Sandwick were also involved.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that firefighters used breathing apparatus, a hosereel jet and a main jet to extinguish the blaze.

The fire took hours to put out, with no-one believed to be harmed.
