Weather / NorthLink service to resume but with changes to timetable
THE FIRST external ferries of the year are set to operate tonight but they will be delayed due the continuing strong to gale force east-south-easterly winds and high seas.
NorthLink confirmed this morning (Wednesday) that the northbound Hrossey will depart Aberdeen not before the early hours of Thursday and is due to arrive at Lerwick at midday.
The Orkney call on the southbound service has now been cancelled.
The Hjaltland will sail directly to Aberdeen, departing from Lerwick at 8pm. She is expected to arrive in the Granite City between 9am and 10am on Thursday.
The freight vessels will commence service on 5 January.
