Marine / Work ongoing to trace source of oil spill in Lerwick
AN OIL spill which is thought to have come from a land-based source has been reported in Lerwick Harbour.
Traces of oil were reported flowing into the sea from a burn near the Lerwick Power Station on Thursday. A boom has been deployed to stop more oil entering the water.
Lerwick Port Authority harbourmaster Captain Alexander Simpson said work is ongoing with the likes of SEPA and Scottish Water as well as other stakeholders in the area to trace the source.
