Community / Wreaths laid on Remembrance Sunday
REMEMBRANCE Sunday events are taking place in Shetland today.
A ceremony was held at the war memorial in Lerwick earlier, which included a gun fire salute.
Thanks to Malcolm Younger of Millgaet Media for the photos.
A wreath laying ceremony will also take place at the Shetland Bus memorial in Scalloway at 3pm.
Meanwhile local MP Alistair Carmichael planted a stake in parliament’s constituency garden of remembrance during the week ahead of Remembrance Sunday to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The day allows people to reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans and service personnel in past conflicts.
