Letters / Who knows about Charles Andrew Smith’s grandparents?

Writing to Peter Jamieson in 1941, Prophet Smith said: “It may interest you to know that Dr C.A. Smith, the chairman of the I.L.P. until February this year, is descended from Shetlanders – his grandparents were both from Lerwick or the surrounding districts.”

Charles Andrew Smith (1895-1984) was an activist in the Independent Labour Party and subsequently in the organisation called Common Wealth.

I would like to know about his Shetland grandparents. If anyone can help, I would be very pleased to hear from them.
