Arts / Straw dancers put on show in damp Lerwick as tour kicks off

Photo: Graham Webster/Shetland Arts

THERE was an unusual sight of ‘straw dancers’ putting on a performance outside Mareel in Lerwick earlier this afternoon (Wednesday).

It was the first in a series of free outdoor pop-up performances across Shetland over the coming week.

It is the work of choreographer Rob Heaslip, and the production features professional dancers.

The next pop-up performance will take place outside the Sandwick pool tomorrow (Thursday) at 2.30pm before it moves to the Scalloway pool at 4.30pm.

A full list of performances can be found here.
