Emergency services / Black Gaet car accident

A MAN was taken to hospital following a two-vehicle road accident at the Black Gaet last night (Wednesday).

The police, fire and ambulance services were alerted at around 9pm and it was not until shortly before midnight that the road was cleared.

The fire service said two appliances from Lerwick and Scalloway attended and that cutting gear was used.

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Around 9.05pm on Wednesday, 17 February, 2021, officers received report of a two-car road crash on the A970 at the Black Gaet junction, Shetland.

“Emergency services attended and one man was conveyed to hospital by ambulance. The road was cleared around 11.50pm.”

The accident happened on the piece of road next to clay target club premises.
