Letters / Smug about systematic oppression?

Treasury Questions… Mel Stride, Tory minister, [he is the financial secretary to the treasury paymaster general] said that employment was at an all time high. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

Scratch below that statement and you will find 1950s women who are caring for elders (though can only claim carers’ allowance if providing 35 hours of care to one person can’t claim if caring for two people for a total of 35 hours, caring for grand children, running households, enduring their own health problems, working full time or part time….

How dare this government be so smug about systematic oppression of women in this way?
