SHETLAND College has secured more funding to allow students to live and work in Norway as part of an exchange programme.

The team-up with Voss Vidaregaande Skule will see two exchanges take place in spring 2019 and 2020.

Shetland College has received over €45,000 for the scheme through the EU’s Erasmus+ partnership.

The college has run programmes with the Voss community since 2011.

Further education students in health and care, computing, construction, creative industries and business and hospitality will be able to apply for the opportunity until 18 September.

Up to 20 students and staff are funded to go to Voss between now and June 2020, with students from Voss also set to come to Shetland for a reciprocal programme of placements.

Shetland College’s joint operations manager Jacqui Clark said: “It is clear that our students gain a huge amount of vocational and life experience through this project which benefits their overall learning experiences and improves their employability skills.

“The additional benefit of cultural exchange is also a real highlight and we’ve seen in previous years how much our students enjoy showing off Shetland to their new friends from Voss.”
