News / Striking orca photo catches attention online

An image of an orca breaching the water off Fetlar, taken by Brydon Thomason a few years ago.

A STRIKING photo of an orca breaching the water off Fetlar has caught the attention online.

The image, taken by wildlife photographer and tour guide Brydon Thomason, was captured off Sands of Sand, Fetlar, on Sunday.

The orca was one of at least eight in a pod, which had been tracked from Yell Sound.

Thomason described the session with the animals as “sensational” and added that the one photo didn’t come close to doing the experience justice.
