News / Linga out of action
THE WHALSAY ferry Linga will be removed from service later this month to allow essential work on her main machinery cooling system to be carried out.
The vessel will travel to Fraserburgh in the evening of Friday 27 July for dry docking before returning on the Monday.
The work is due to take place during the tail end of the inaugural Whalsay’s Summer Days event, which will see a range of activities hosted on the island between 23-29 July.
Shetland Islands Council has made a number of timetable adjustments in light of the Linga‘s absence. They are:
- MV Hendra will fulfil the timetabled service for the weekend, with additional runs in the morning – 0930 from Laxo and 1000 from Symbister; and in the afternoon – 1300 from Laxo and 1330 from Symbister.
- To make these extra runs it is necessary to move the timetabled 0915 from Symbister to 0900, and the 1245 from Symbister to 1230.
- In addition to the amendments to the Hendra timetable, MV Filla will be used when required in between her timetabled service to Skerries.
The ferry services team apologises for any disruption this may cause.
