News / New psychiatrist joins NHS
NHS SHETLAND has appointed a new consultant psychiatrist to its mental health team.
Dr Marlies Jansen started this week in the role, which had been vacant since the summer, and chief executive Ralph Roberts said it was an “important appointment” for the health board.
“Dr Marlies Jansen joins us from East Anglia where she has worked for a number of years and therefore brings a wealth of experience,” he said.
The mental health team lost psychiatric doctor Martin Scholtz last year when he left his job.
In October Karen Smith was appointed NHS Shetland’s new head of mental health, while Graham Laing took up the new role of clinical nurse manager at the end of July.
