News / Bressay service disruption

The harbour tug Knab is taken Fivla back to Lerwick - Photos: John Bateson

TRAFFIC on the inter-island ferry route between Bressay and Lerwick was disrupted for a while on Wednesday night after the Fivla caught a rope in her propeller.

The council’s ferry services department was alerted to the problem at just after 9.30pm when the Fivla was near the Bressay terminal.

The ferry had first to be taken back to Lerwick with the help of the harbour tug Knab before divers from Malakoff could free her of the rope.

Service resumed at 11pm.
