News / Town centre trouble

TWO MEN who got themselves into bother on separate nights out in the centre of Lerwick appeared in court on Monday.

Thirty two year old Gary Robertson, of Stevenston, Ayrshire, pleaded guilty to behaving aggressively, brandishing a bottle at door staff and making threats at Posers nightclub at the weekend.

Robertson appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court. He was granted bail while background reports are prepared, with the special condition that he leaves Shetland unless he can prove he has steady employment in the islands.

He is due back in court on 8 July.

Meanwhile, 43 year old Graham Maconnachie, of Craigbo Court, Glasgow, who had been due to face a jury trial, pleaded guilty to assault by hitting his victim on the head with a glass during a night out in Lerwick’s Thule Bar on 6 July last year.

Sheriff Philip Mann released Maconnachie on bail, adjourning the case for background reports to be prepared, and ordered him to reappear at Lerwick Sheriff Court on 24 June.
