WINTER in Shetland is a time for men to stop shaving and grow beards.

The first Althing debate of the year will be about whether this facial hair is an improvement – or not.

“The beard maketh the man” is the motion under debate on Saturday 17 January.

Speakers will include Stevie Gordon, Donald Anderson and Kevin Learmonth.

The debate is in the Tingwall Hall and starts at 7.30pm.
