News / A big boat for a big job

This cracking photo of the Seven Oceans was taken by Lerwick photographer Ben Mullay.

THE MASSIVE pipe laying vessel Seven Oceans has been dominating Lerwick’s harbour front over the last few days.

The 158 metre long vessel weighs 18,000 tonnes and belongs to engineering company Subsea 7.

Currently it is helping to lay service pipelines and “umbilicals” from Total’s deep sea Laggan-Tormore gas field to the new gas plant being built beside Sullom Voe.
