Local businesses nominated for Highlands and Islands Thistle awards
A NUMBER of local businesses are up for prizes at this year’s Highlands and Islands Thistle Awards.
The nominations come in addition to Celia Smith of Blyde Welcome being shortlisted for the individual of the year prize.
Both the two companies which offer boat trips from Lerwick to the cliffs of Noss are nominated for a couple of prizes each.
Shetland Seabird Tours is up for best visitor attraction and best outdoor or adventure experience.
Seabirds-and-Seals is nominated for the best visitor attraction prize as well as the inclusion award.
Meanwhile Lerwick restaurant No.88 has been nominated for the best eating experience award.
The Highlands and Islands Thistle Awards aim to celebrate the region’s tourism and hospitality industries.
The awards ceremony is taking place on 9 October, with the winners due to progress to a national final.
