Sport / Okroj collects nine medals as swimmers enjoy Aberdeen experience
SWIMMER Julian Okroj returned from Aberdeen with a remarkable medal haul after the Scottish National Age Groups (SNAGs) last week.
The 15 year old won a total of nine medals, including four golds, over the course of the five day competition.
Shetland Hurricanes and Delting Dolphins attended together, with loads of greatswims from all the swimmers and with relay teams entered from both clubs.
Okroj, swimming for Delting Dolphins, won golds in the 100m backstroke, 200m and 400m freestyle, and the 400m individual medley.
He also earned silver in the 1,500m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 200m individual medley, and won bronze in 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle.
Lockie Bullough (16), also swimming for Delting Dolphins, earned a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly to cap off a fine weekend for the team.
He also made the finals of the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle, earning a PB for the freestyle and finishing fourth in the backstroke final.
Ross Drakeford (15) competed at his first SNAGs, gaining PBs in 50m breaststroke and100m freestyle.
Innes McDill (16) joined the boys to make up the relay team, with the 4 boys swimming the 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley relay.
Ruaridh Chittick (14), swimming for Shetland Hurricanes, had five events over theweek. He earned PBs in 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly, making the final of the freestyle race.
Ellie Thompson (14), swimming for Hurricanes, got big PBs in both the 400m and 800m freestyle events, while Stella Okroj (12) gained PBs in 100m and 200m backstroke.

Stella was then joined by teammates Eve Moncrieff (13), Camryn Cheyney (12) andAstrid Anderson (13) to compete in the 4x100m Freestyle relay.
The girls put in a great performance to finish 18th in their age group.
On the last day of the meet Astrid and Stella were joined by Ella Winks (12) andSophia Cheatle (13) for the 4x100m medley relay, where the girls won their heat.
