Community / Jurassic Park next up for foodbank film screenings
TWO screenings of classic film Jurassic Park are scheduled for later this month at Mareel – with people able to get a ticket in return for a donation to the Shetland Foodbank.
It comes after a similar set-up was run for screenings of Back to the Future in November, which saw 450kg of donations collected in total.
It is said that this could have fed around 30 people for a week.
Jurassic Park will be shown in Mareel’s screen two on Saturday 21 March at 5pm, and 6pm on Thursday 26 March in screen one.
Donations will be accepted from Tuesday 17 March if customers would prefer to pick up their ticket in advance, or they can just turn up and donate on the night.
It coincides with Mareel’s season of celebrating the director Steven Spielberg’s 80th birthday this year.
Shetland Arts’ sales and marketing Manager Tessa Huntley said: “After the incredible response to our first foodbank screening where we received 450kg of donations received, we’re excited to be doing it again with another classic that deserves the big screen, Jurassic Park.
“The generosity shown by our audiences last time was fantastic, and we’re hoping this next screening will be just as successful and we can make more donations.”
