Letters / Open letter to SRT
Dear SRT,
Why do you not look at energy saving measures like an aerogenerator, ground-source heat pumps and solar panels to provide the power to heat the pool and also seek volunteers to run it?
As a charity – you are NOT a private business – stop behaving like one – and why not ask Shetland Charitable Trust, who already fund you annually, to fund the capital energy saving measures – hence investing to save running costs in the long run.
Have you done a community survey? You have cut back the opening hours and hence created less use and thus more people are having to travel (not environmentally friendly and costly) to Lerwick to swim. Self-defeating and creating your own Catch-22.
I’d suggest you have not thought this through. Think! Think more deeply, creatively and rationally.
