A LOCAL musician’s festive tradition has continued with another self-recorded Christmas cover – with some help from a few friends.

Well, not just a few – more than 50, to be more precise.

Scott Priest, from Gulberwick, released a cover of Kelly Clarkson’s Underneath the Tree late on Christmas Eve.

He recorded all the instrumentation – drums, guitar, bass and synth – but called upon guests for the vocals.

Like his version of Slade’s Merry Xmas Everybody last year, the guest vocalists range from local music veterans to newbies just having a bit of fun.

Priest said he began recording the instruments in November, and had the first group of singers in his home to lay down some vocals on 22 November.

“I had them coming in right up till Monday night,” he said.

The musician previously said the idea behind his Christmas covers “is to just have a bit of a laugh and spread some cheer”.
