Calum MacKay and Alisers Abuladze, both of whom are studying at Glasgow University, will each receive an annual bursary of £3,000, personal mentoring and the opportunity to work with Ocean Kinetics outside of term time.
MacKay said he was “delighted” to have been selected as a Futures scholar, allowing him to study on his third-year studies in mechanical engineering with aeronautics.
And Abuladze said the funding would help ease “the stress of supporting myself through long work hours.”
Both students are interested in growing Shetland’s engineering sector, which aligns with the aims of the Futures scholarship and Ocean Kinetics’ long-term vision.
