EID ROWING Club’s young rowers have had a superb season, winning 17 of the 18 trophies available to them.
The team row in the under-16 boys, under-21 men’s and adult men’s races, and have been dominant throughout the season – winning all of their races in the under-16 and under-21 categories.
As well as that, they won three of their six races in the adult’s categories, giving winners Burra a good run – and showing that the Burra-Eid rivalry is stronger than ever.
The club are the first to ever win 17 out of 18 trophies in one rowing season, and hope that the commitment and practice of their young rowers will encourage more people to take up the sport.
NESS UNITED continued their imperious record in the GTS County Shield by beating Celtic 3-2 in Saturday’s final.
Ness have now won five of the last six County Shields, losing the other final, after lifting the trophy in Lerwick this weekend.
A double from Declan Adamson and one from Tomas Smith was enough to ensure the South Mainland side triumphed, with Celtic’s goals coming through Shay Regan and James Aitken.
It means Ness finish the season having won both the Madrid Cup and County Shield, while Celtic end the campaign without any silverware.
Meanwhile Whitedale and Spurs will face the tantalising prospect of a play-off to decide who lifts this season’s Ocean Kinetics Premier League after ending the season locked on points.
Whitedale thrashed Scalloway 5-1 in their final league game on Friday, leaving both sides on 27 points after 12 games.
A one-off decider, at a venue and day set to be announced, will decide if Whitedale are winners for the first time since 2018 – or if Spurs reclaim the crown they lost last season.

WHALSAY will set out to stop Whitedale winning the netball Parish Cup for a third consecutive year when they meet in the final this weekend.
Whitedale are back-to-back champions in the competition, and emerged as 59-36 winners against Yell in the semi-finals to maintain their flawless record in the Parish Cup since its inception in 2023.
Standing in their way of a perfect three cup successes in the competition are Whalsay, who beat Southend 44-31 in the other semi-final last month.
The two will meet in the Parish Cup final on Saturday afternoon at Clickimin, with centre pass at 3pm. All spectators are welcome.
SHETLAND’S men’s rugby team narrowly lost their opening game of the new season away to Mackie on Saturday.
Mackie emerged as 24-22 winners in the opening fixture for Shetland in the Arnold Clark Caledonia division one campaign.
Jake Watt was named as player of the match in the narrow defeat, while the team was able to celebrate Kyle Lawrence’s 50th cap for the club at full-time.
Next up for the team is another away trip this Saturday, this time to face Gordonian’s 2nd.
TWO SHETLANDERS played for Golspie Sutherland in the Scottish Cup second preliminary round on Saturday.
Henry Oldbury, who was also named vice-captain, was in goals for Golspie while Matthew Murray started in defence.
Coldstream eventually ran out 3-0 winners to progress to the next round, racing into a 2-0 lead within the 10 minutes.
Things went from bad to worse for Golspie when they were reduced to 10 men and, after a third goal for Coldstream before half-time, Golspie then had a second player sent off to compound a disappointing afternoon.
A number of Shetlanders, including Murray, Oldbury, Lewis Harkness, Stuart Copland and Brandon McKay, have been representing Golspie in the Highland League recently.
