Business / Harper Macleod calls time on estate agency service in Shetland
LAW firm Harper Macleod has exited the local estate agency sector, citing the “changing nature of Shetland’s residential property market”.
A spokesperson for the company said there are no job losses as a result of the “strategic” decision.
Harper Macleod, which has an office in Lerwick, will continue to provide all of its other legal services in Shetland.
The spokesperson said: “Harper Macleod remains fully committed to delivering a unique and extensive combination of quality legal services to the people, families, businesses and organisations in Shetland.
“This year we celebrate 10 years of supporting clients in Shetland – an important milestone in our history since we arrived in October 2015.
“We continue to be focused on delivering the quality services which we are recognised for, and which meet the needs of Shetland.
“Due to the changing nature of Shetland’s residential property market and following careful consideration, we have taken the strategic decision to cease to provide estate agency services from Shetland.
“All other services will continue to be delivered to the same high standards, largely by the same HM team who are well known in Shetland.”
The company also highlighted its recent sponsorship of Team Shetland at the Island Games, and said it will be present at the Cunningsburgh Show later this month.
The company provides estate agency services across the north of Scotland from its teams in Inverness and Elgin, as well as Edinburgh.
