Sport / And they’re off … team Shetland sail for week of sporting action in Orkney
TEAM Shetland and their supporters have headed in their droves today (Friday) to Orkney for the 2025 Island Games.
The majority of the 175-strong squad of athletes and officials sailed for Kirkwall late on Friday afternoon, with many of their supporters also in tow.
NorthLink said that, as of 11am this morning, there were 529 passengers booked aboard – of which almost 400 were getting off in Orkney tonight.
The Island Games kicks off with the opening ceremony on Saturday night.
