The injured man was then airlifted for treatment to hospital in Aberdeen.

Lerwick Port Authority confirmed some of the details of the accident when contacted by Shetland News today (Monday).

Chief executive Calum Grains said: “A crew member aboard the harbour vessel Knab was injured on Friday 13 June 2025, during fender-handling operations in the port.

“The individual entered the water during the incident and was assisted by emergency services. They are now recovering in hospital.”

All relevant authorities, including the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) have been notified.

Lerwick Port Authority is also carrying out its own investigation.
