FILMING for season 10 of the popular TV crime drama series Shetland is due to commence on Monday (16 June).

Crews from ITV Studios will be filming at various locations throughout the isles until Friday 4 July, resulting in some traffic restrictions during limited times.

Assistant location manager Andy Ross said: “We are aware that this may cause issues due to parking restrictions and traffic controls necessary to safely facilitate filming and apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

“We are in constant dialogue with the Shetland Islands Council Roads Dept. throughout the production process and take their guidance and advice on any requests we have made to them.

“We endeavour to cause the minimal disruption possible.”

To aid this upcoming traffic restrictions will be published here on the Shetland News website.

Monday 16 June:

A stop/go traffic hold will be in place on the B9074 at the Tingwall Kirk between 7am and 4pm to allow crew to move equipment over the road safely and facilitate the recording of clean dialogue for scenes. Holds will be short and kept to a minimum.

Also on Monday 16 June:

A road closure has been granted at he Knab in Lerwick between 7am and 6.30pm to allow the safe filming of scenes involving action vehicles and drones. Parking restrictions will be in place to ensure continuity for filming and parking of tech vehicles.

Tuesday 17 June:

A stop/go traffic hold will be in place on the Esplanade, in Lerwick’s town centre, between 8am and 7pm to allow cast and crew to move safely on the carriageway and for clean dialogue to be recorded.

Holds will be short and kept to a minimum and parking restrictions will be in place nearby to facilitate our larger production vehicles and sound van.

Ross said: “In the meantime I would like to thank you for your cooperation in this respect.”
