THE BELL’S Brae primary school building has been forced to close after a “major leak” on Tuesday morning.

The school’s parent council announced on Facebook that the three-storey building would have to be shut because of the leak.

Parents were asked to collect their children from the three-storey block.

The nursery and additional support needs section of the Lerwick school has been unaffected.

Shetland Islands Council confirmed the building had been closed and pupils had been sent home.

“The situation is currently being assessed, and parents and carers are being kept informed,” it added.
