Entertainment / Peat & Diesel to head back north for free Mareel gig

Peat & Diesel.

SCOTTISH band Peat & Diesel are set to return to Shetland to perform a free gig at Mareel this summer.

NorthLink customers who are signed up to the company’s newsletter will be given an access code for complimentary tickets.

The band will perform at Mareel on Friday 8 August in conjunction with promoter Beyond Presents.

They made their Shetland debut on the Holmsgarth stage at the Tall Ships in Lerwick in 2023.

Scottish singer-songwriter Cody Feechan will open the Mareel gig.

It comes after NorthLink hosted a free concert with FARA in Orkney last year.

Anyone interested in attending the Peat & Diesel gig is asked to sign up to the NorthLink newsletter here, with a code set to be sent out with the next mail-out.

Tickets are restricted to two per name, and to book, a NorthLink booking reference number or a NorthLink ID will be required.

Stuart Garrett, managing director of Serco NorthLink Ferries, said: “We introduced our summer concerts last year as a way of saying thank you to our customers, whilst also celebrating the rich musical heritage of Scotland.

“This is a rare opportunity for our customers to see this hugely popular band play in the Northern Isles.

“Known for selling out Glasgow’s 2,000 capacity venue the Barrowlands in just minutes – customers will have to be fast if they want to be lucky enough to secure a ticket for this one-off complimentary gig.”

The band added in a statement that they were “buzzing” to head back to Shetland.

They have promised a “night of wild tunes, stomping beats, and good craic as we bring our folk-rock madness to the Northern Isles”.
