Court / Drug dealers handed lengthy jail sentences
TWO LOCAL men have been jailed for five years each for being involved in the supply of heroin from their homes in Lerwick.
Nigel Scott and Matthew Smith, both aged 50, appeared for sentencing at Edinburgh High Court on Tuesday.
The pair had previously been found guilty of supplying the class A drug over a six-month period from November 2020 to May 2021.
The pair were stopped in their vehicle in the Sandveien area of Lerwick on 24 May 2021.
Officers searched their van and found more than 2kg of heroin with an estimated street value of £135,000.
Shetland area commander Chris Sewell said: “Police Scotland is committed to reducing drug related harm in Shetland.
“Anyone with information in relation to those involved in the supply of controlled drugs should contact us on 101 or anonymously via crimestoppers”
