POST Office services in Scalloway have now moved from the pharmacy to the village’s meat company shop.

The counter in the Scalloway Meat Company premises opened at 2pm today (Thursday).

The opening hours are Tuesday to Friday, 9am-1pm and 2-5pm, as well as 12-5pm on Saturdays.

Similar Post Office products and services will continue to be available as before, with the addition of Euros travel money.

Post Office Ltd said the previous location at the pharmacy had been “operated on our behalf by a temporary postmaster”.

“Whilst this arrangement has enabled us to maintain access to Post Office services to our customers in the area, their lease has unfortunately expired and the branch closed on 3 March,” the company added.

David Duff, Post Office area change manager, said: “We are delighted to have restored a permanent Post Office in Scalloway at a nearby location, which has allowed us to maintain vital services to the community.”
