A BRAE fish and chip shop has been named as one of the best in Britain by Time Out magazine.

Frankie’s Fish and Chips was one of three Scottish entries on the 17-strong list of the best fish and chip shops in the UK.

The magazine said that Frankie’s was not only the UK’s most northerly chippies, but “also one of its best”.

“Sourcing premium and sustainable Shetland seafood, this spot was set up in the bucolic village of Brae to provide locals and tourists with the ultimate fish and chips experience,” it wrote.

“You can’t go wrong with a classic order of crisp battered haddock, but we’d also recommend saving some stomach space for a battered sausage on the side.”

Frankie’s took home the prize for best chip shop (north) at the Scottish Fish and Chip Awards in Glasgow last November.

It was also ‘highly recommended’ in the best dine-in restaurant and best fish supper (north) categories.

The Brae chippy launched in 2008, and in 2015 it was named the UK’s top independent takeaway fish and chip shop.

It was bought in 2020 by Corinna and Mark Hoseason, taking over from Valerie Johnson.
