A PLANT mechanic apprentice has been shortlisted for an award for his work at college and with Garriock Bros at their Brae depot.

Paul Hunter is in the second year of his apprenticeship with the company.

His lecturers nominated him in the plant mechanic section at the Stars of the Future awards for his “practical aptitude and enthusiasm to continually develop”.

Stars of the Future is a British-wide award run by the National Construction Plant-Hire Association for construction plant apprentices.

They aim to recognise hardworking apprentices who have potential to become future leaders.

Hunter has ambitions to become a garage foreman with Garriock Bros.

Depot manager Robin Leslie said he is “extremely proud of Paul and that the nomination itself is a great acknowledgement of his work ethic, and the great teamwork found at the Brae Depot”.

Hunter is planning to attend the ceremony in Coventry tonight (Thursday).
