Community / Search continues for local teacher missing in Greece
A FORMER Shetland teacher has been reported missing while on holiday in Greece.
Archie Green was reported missing last Thursday on the island of Samos after he failed to return from a walk.
Search and rescue teams have been mobilised in recent days.
The former head teacher of Scalloway Junior High School is known as a keen sailor. He is understood to keep his own yacht in Greece and regularly visits the Greek islands with his wife Liz for holidays.
Lerwick Boating Club said it was aware that the 73-year old was missing and was concerned for his wellbeing.
Commodore Shayne McLeod said he knows him well. “He is a local man and well known in the community as a teacher and all the voluntary work he has done for sailing and the boating club here,” he said.
“We can only hope that he returns very soon. His family are in our thoughts, and we are with them at this difficult time.”
