Community / Colouring-in sheet surprise for cardboard box foodbank fundraisers
SHETLAND News readers may recall our story last month of two local children who raised over £500 for the foodbank in Lerwick by spending 12 hours in a cardboard box.
Brother and sister Isla and Sonny Hughes tucked themselves away in the large box between 10am and 10pm with some entertainment at hand to keep them amused.
They have now featured in a colouring-in sheet created by a Scottish illustrator which is being given to staff at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to let them “de-stress” on breaks.
Illustrator Anna Miles brought together tales from across Scotland of people doing good deeds during the coronavirus pandemic and included Isla and Sonny after seeing the Shetland News article.
She has also created another colouring-in sheet called ‘Things That All NHS Staff Deserve’.
“I wish I had some practical, hands-on science skills I could offer to the world and be a bit more useful if I’m honest, but illustration is my thing – so if my art can help anyone take their mind off what’s weighing them down for just five minutes then I’m pleased,” Anna said.
Isla and Sonny’s mum Chloe said the pair were “pleased as punch” with the drawing and plan to colour themselves in soon.
You can download the colouring-in sheet here.
