EMERGENCY services were alerted on Saturday following reports of a person seen sitting on top of an upturned sailing boat in the Catfirth area.

The coastguard coordinated the response and sent the Lerwick Lifeboat and the Lerwick coastguard team at around 1pm, but a nearby aquaculture vessel had already towed in the sailing boat.

The police were already on the scene, with the Lerwick Lifeboat and the coastguard team stood down before they arrived.

No casualties were reported.
